Box Treatment Center
From an iconic perspective, Box Treatment Center is a fairly explicit piece focusing centrally on one main idea: containment. The box is too small for a male or female adult to stand in and the entrance too small for a male or female adult to easily enter. Therefore, entering, existing in and leaving the box will all become tasks that can be perceived to be annoying, unnerving or bothersome. From the moment you enter the dark container, you will be greeted with surrounding sound that engulfs you in chaotic and unnerving compositions. The piece itself will speak to fear on two separate levels. The first type will be shown through the samples I use to highlight psychological fear on a human level. The listener may gain new points of perspective, hopefully, after hearing people speak who are usually condemned as criminals or dissenters. It could in fact, hopefully and possibly, cause the listener to ask questions of themselves on a personal level in regards to their own beliefs. The second aspect of fear that will be explored will be that of the listener. It is my hope to create unnerving and chaotic pieces that will inflict doubt or caution or even a frightened state for the viewer.
